Terms of business

These terms cover the £199 one-page website, the £199 website refresh, hosting, domain names, and the Care and Growth plans bought through this site. Bigger projects get a written proposal; these terms apply to those too, unless the proposal says otherwise.

If you're buying for your business, the whole of these terms applies. If you're buying as an individual, for something that isn't your business, you also have rights under consumer law that nothing here takes away. The parts that are different for you are marked.

£199 is an introductory price for my first 10 customers. After that, the price is £349.

You pay in full at checkout. Stripe handles the payment and emails your receipt. After that, you tell me about your business and we agree what goes on the page before I start building.

You're responsible for the words, photos and logos you send me, and for having the right to use them. Anything I write or source for you, I make sure I have the right to use.

If I haven't received what I need within 60 days of you paying, I'll get in touch. If it still hasn't arrived 30 days after that, I'll close the project and refund you, minus a fair charge for any work I've already done.

If you change your mind before I've started, tell me and I'll refund you in full. Once I've started, I'll refund the price minus a fair charge for the work done so far. Once you've approved the page and it's live, the work is complete.

If you're buying as an individual: you can cancel within 14 days of paying, for any reason, by emailing me. If you've asked me to start within those 14 days, I'll refund you minus a fair charge for the work done so far. Once the work is complete, the 14-day right to cancel ends.

Once your page is live, further changes are quoted separately, unless they're covered by a Care or Growth plan.

Once you've paid in full, the design, words and images I've made for your site are yours to use. Your domain name is registered in your name.

I keep the right to reuse my own general code, layouts and know-how in other work, and to show your site in my portfolio, unless you ask me not to. Fonts, stock images and other third-party pieces stay under their own licences.

Hosting is included for the first 3 months (90 days). After that it's £50 a year, taken by card through Stripe once a year.

To stop before the first payment, email me before the included months end and you won't be charged. After that, you can cancel at any time by email, and hosting carries on to the end of the year you've paid for.

If you'd like to move your site somewhere else, I'll help, including giving you your site's files.

I look after hosting with reasonable care, but it relies on third-party providers, so I can't promise it will never go down. If it does, I'll get it back up as quickly as I reasonably can.

The Care plan is £25 a month and the Growth plan is £50 a month, taken by card through Stripe each month. What each includes is listed on the offer pages.

You can cancel either plan at any time by email. It carries on to the end of the month you've paid for, and isn't charged again.

If you need a domain name, I quote it at the registrar's price plus a £10 fee for the first year. It's registered in your name. Renewals are at the registrar's price each year, with no fee from me.

I'll do the work with reasonable care and skill. If something I've done isn't right, tell me and I'll put it right.

If you're buying for your business, I'm not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profit, lost business or lost data, and my total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you've paid me in the 12 months before it.

If you're buying as an individual, I'm responsible for losses that were a foreseeable result of me breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.

If your site collects your customers' details, for example through a contact form, you're responsible for that information and I only handle it on your instructions. Where that applies, we'll sign a short data processing agreement. How I handle your own details is in the privacy policy.

If you're unhappy with anything, email hello@chantellebuilds.co.uk. I'll reply within 5 working days and aim to sort it out within 14 days.

If we can't agree, we'll try mediation before going to court. These terms are under the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.

I may update these terms. The version on this page on the day you paid is the one that applies to that purchase.
