How to get more Google reviews without chasing

Ask at the moment the customer is happiest, send a direct link that opens the review box, and keep the message short. Setting up an automatic request after each finished job means it happens every time without you having to remember or chase.

When should I ask?

Straight after the job is done and the customer has said thanks. That moment fades fast; a request a week later is easy to ignore.

How do I make it easy?

  • —Get your direct review link from your Google Business Profile, so customers land straight on the review box.
  • —Send it by text or WhatsApp, which most people open quickly.
  • —Keep the message to two lines and use their name.
  • —Suggest they mention the service and their town, which helps others find you.

How do I stop having to remember?

Connect your booking, invoice or job tool to a simple automation, so marking a job as done sends the review request a few hours later. One gentle reminder after a few days is fine; more than that starts to feel like chasing.

What shouldn't I do?

Don't offer discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews, and don't only ask customers you expect to be positive. Both go against Google's rules.

What I'd build

An automatic review request that goes out when a job is marked complete, with your direct review link and one polite reminder.

Questions people ask

  • Yes, to every one. A short, warm reply to good reviews and a calm, helpful one to poor reviews both build trust.

  • Only if they've genuinely been customers. Reviews should reflect real experiences.

  • There's no magic number. A steady flow of recent reviews matters more than a big total from years ago.
