Why your website gets visitors but no enquiries

When a site gets visitors but no enquiries, people usually can't quickly tell what you do, whether you cover their area, roughly what it costs, or how to get in touch. Fixing the first screen, adding clear prices or ranges, and making contact one tap away often makes the biggest difference.

What are the usual causes?

  • —The first screen doesn't say what you do, who for and where.
  • —No sign of price, so visitors assume you're too expensive and leave.
  • —The contact button is hard to find on a phone.
  • —The enquiry form asks too much, or doesn't work on mobile.
  • —Nothing shows you're real: no photos of your work, no reviews, no named person.
  • —The site is slow to load on mobile data.

How can I tell which one it is?

Open your site on your phone and give yourself ten seconds. Could a stranger say what you do, where, and how to contact you? Then ask a friend to try booking or enquiring and watch where they hesitate. A speed check shows whether loading time is part of it.

What should I fix first?

  1. 01Rewrite the first two sentences so they say what you do, for whom and where.
  2. 02Put one clear contact button at the top and repeat it down the page.
  3. 03Show prices, a starting price or a price range.
  4. 04Cut the enquiry form down to what you need to reply.
  5. 05Add real photos and any genuine reviews you have.

What I'd build

A site designed around one job: turning a visitor into an enquiry, with a clear first screen, visible pricing and one repeated contact action.

Questions people ask

  • Usually yes, even if it's a starting price or range. It answers the first question most visitors have and filters out poor fits.

  • Possibly, if visitors aren't the people you serve. The free site audit and your analytics can show where they come from.

  • Not always. Often clearer wording and a better contact route are enough. I'll tell you which it is.
